Telangana to roll out sector-specific industrial policies at global summit
Telangana will unveil sector-specific industrial policies and a revamped approval system at the Rising Global Summit 2.0 in December.
Telangana is preparing to move beyond a one-size-fits-all approach to industrial development, with plans to announce dedicated policies for several key sectors. The new frameworks will cover aerospace and defence, lifestyle and leather, global capability centres (GCCs), data centres, electronics, life sciences, and other emerging industries, according to a senior state government official.
Speaking at an industry event on Monday, Commissioner of Industries Nikhil Chakravarthy J. said the state is also set to revamp its time-bound approval system, TG-iPASS, into a more agile and outcome-oriented facilitation mechanism. The changes are part of a broader push to make industrial approvals faster and more responsive to investor needs.
The government is additionally considering competitive incentives for companies investing $25 million or more. The objective, the official said, is to attract larger investments, generate high-quality employment, and strengthen local industrial ecosystems. Telangana already enjoys a strong manufacturing base, with nearly 80% of components required by local industries being produced within the state.
The next generation of policies and investment opportunities is proposed to be unveiled at the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2.0, scheduled from December 7 to 9 under the theme 'Invest Telangana'.
The announcement came during the launch of the Indo-German Gateway Programme, a joint initiative by the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI), the German Indian Business Alliance (GIBA), and Innovation Hub RheinMain. The 12-month programme is designed to help Telangana enterprises establish a commercial presence in Germany and use the RheinMain region as a gateway to broader European markets. Each participating enterprise can receive aggregate support of up to €25,000, subject to eligibility and milestone completion, to assist with market assessment, visits, and establishment activities.
