Telangana STF seizes over 16 kg marijuana in three separate operations

The Telangana Excise Special Task Force (STF) has dismantled a marijuana supply network with three coordinated operations in Hyderabad and Medchal, resulting in the seizure of more than 16 kilograms of the narcotic substance and the arrest of four individuals.

In the first operation, the STF's 'A' Team intercepted a vehicle near the Chintalakunta check-post in Hayathnagar, recovering 7.448 kg of marijuana. The accused, Rajesh Kalamam, was arrested for allegedly transporting the contraband from Odisha. A separate case was registered against Vishal Kurian in connection with this seizure. The drugs, valued at approximately ₹4 lakh, along with the accused, were handed over to the Hayathnagar Excise Station for further investigation.

Acting on a tip-off, the STF's 'B' Team conducted a raid in the Vasavi Ananda Nilayam area of LB Nagar. This operation led to the recovery of 8.928 kg of marijuana and the arrest of Ganga Madhukami and Munni Kadiyam. During interrogation, the duo reportedly confessed to transporting the drugs from Odisha with the intention of delivering them to Vijay Kurivi, also known as Roshan. A case has been registered against Kurivi, who remains at large. The seized contraband, estimated to be worth ₹4.50 lakh, and the two arrested persons were handed over to the Saroornagar Excise Station.

In a third, separate operation, personnel from the Medchal Enforcement unit apprehended Deepak Swan, a native of Odisha, within the jurisdiction of the Quthbullapur Excise Station. The team seized 550 grams of marijuana from his possession, along with a motorcycle and a mobile phone believed to be used in the illegal activity. Swan and the seized property have been transferred to the Quthbullapur Excise Station for legal proceedings.
