Telangana to host India's largest AI data centre with ₹70,000 crore Tata investment

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday announced a ₹70,000 crore investment by the Tata Group, TCS, and HyperVault to build what is projected to be India's largest AI data centre in Telangana's Future City. The facility, with a planned capacity of up to 1 gigawatt, is expected to create direct employment for 7,000 people.

Mr. Reddy set a firm deadline for the project, stating that the inauguration would take place on June 2, 2028, which marks Telangana Formation Day. He noted that the timeline from groundbreaking to launch would be exactly 21 months.

The Chief Minister recounted his interaction with Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2026, where he had requested a major investment announcement for the state. He added that the government deliberately withheld any announcement until the Tata Group made its formal commitment.

Addressing investor concerns, Mr. Reddy assured that Telangana would maintain continuity in its investment policies irrespective of political changes. He cited the state's history of successive governments improving existing policies rather than discarding them, and stressed that political differences would not affect the investment climate.

In a related development, Mr. Reddy said the 50-km Radial Road-1, which connects the Outer Ring Road with Future City via Kongara Kalan, has been dedicated to the late Ratan Tata. He noted the road could serve as an emergency runway and was among the best in the country.

TCS CEO and Managing Director K. Krithivasan described AI as a civilisational shift rather than a mere technological disruption, adding that societies which adapt quickly would lead globally. OpenAI's CTO Uday Rudraraju addressed the gathering virtually.

The event was attended by IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu, several other state ministers, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, and senior officials from TCS and HyperVault.
