Texas Halts Data Center Permits Pending Grid Audit

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has ordered a halt to all state-issued permits for data centers until an audit of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid is completed.

The directive, announced on Monday, instructs the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to stop issuing permits for such facilities. Abbott also said no state agency should proceed with regulatory approvals for data center development until the audit and associated water-use information are acquired.
