Communities in northern Thailand's Nan Province have been hit by severe flash flooding after more than 300 millimetres of rain fell within a single day. The downpour, which occurred on Wednesday, triggered flash floods and landslides across several districts, forcing residents to evacuate their homes.
Footage from the affected areas showed extensive flooding in towns and villages, with people wading through waist-high water and buildings partially submerged. In some locations, residents used ropes to navigate the strong currents, while others worked to clear water from their homes.
Officials have confirmed that 17 villages across four districts have been affected, though the total number of people impacted has not yet been determined. State agencies, including the police, the army, and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, have deployed personnel to assist with evacuations and to distribute food and water to those trapped in their homes.
Rescue workers have been seen using boats to reach stranded residents, as floodwaters continue to cover streets and inundate properties across the province.
