Teen Student Kills Seven in Thailand School Shooting
A 14-year-old student shot dead seven people in Nonthaburi, Thailand, including five school staff and his two grandparents.
A 14-year-old student in Thailand has been arrested after a shooting spree that left seven people dead in Nonthaburi province, a suburb north of Bangkok. Authorities confirmed the victims included five staff members of the Debsirin Nonthaburi School and the two grandparents with whom the boy lived.
The incident adds to a troubling pattern of gun violence in a country that, while having high rates of gun ownership in Asia, rarely sees indiscriminate mass shootings. The deadliest recent attack occurred in 2022 when a dismissed police sergeant killed 37 people, including two dozen toddlers at a daycare center in the northeast.
Other notable shootings in recent years include a 2025 attack at a Bangkok market where five people were killed, and a 2023 mall shooting by a 14-year-old that left two dead. In 2020, a soldier killed at least 29 people in a 16-hour rampage, and a gold shop robbery the same year left three dead.
The latest shooting in Nonthaburi is under investigation, with authorities yet to release a motive for the attack.
