Thai Senate Approves 3.788 Trillion Baht Budget for 2027 Fiscal Year

Thailand's Senate on Friday approved the government's budget bill for the 2027 fiscal year, clearing a 3.788 trillion baht ($114.3 billion) spending plan that is set to take effect on October 1. The legislation now requires royal approval before it can be enacted.

The budget projects a 0.2% increase in spending over the current fiscal year, alongside an 8.4% reduction in the deficit to 788 billion baht.

According to documents published by the country's Budget Bureau, the largest share of proposed allocations goes to social opportunity and equality, which accounts for 960.9 billion baht, or 25.4% of total spending. Public administration reform follows at 676.3 billion baht, representing 17.9% of the total.

Reserved government operating items are allocated 646.5 billion baht, or 17.1%, while human resource development covering education and public health receives 611.2 billion baht, or 16.1%. Security is set at 407.2 billion baht, or 10.7%.

Spending aimed at competitiveness, including transport, logistics and agriculture, is proposed at 348.4 billion baht, or 9.2% of the total. Environmental quality receives the smallest share at 137.5 billion baht, or 3.6%.

The figures were calculated at an exchange rate of $1 to 33.14 baht.
