The Paradise Gets 'A' Certificate as CBFC Orders Cuts to Violence and Flag Visuals
The Paradise, starring Nani and directed by Srikanth Odela, has received an 'A' certificate from the CBFC after cuts to violent scenes and other visuals, ahead of its September 24, 2026 release.
The upcoming Nani-starrer The Paradise has been granted an 'A' certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification, ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on September 24, 2026. The film reunites the actor with director Srikanth Odela, who previously helmed Dasara.
The certification was announced by the makers as part of the film's ongoing promotional campaign. In a social media post, the team framed the rating as a deliberate choice, stating that while the film's emotional core is meant for all viewers, the raw intensity of the central character, Jadal, is intended strictly for adults. Nani plays Jadal in the film.
The Paradise has already seen the release of its teaser and songs, including 'Aaya Sher' and 'Yeshanagula', as part of its build-up to the theatrical debut.
CBFC-mandated changes
The censor board required several modifications before clearing the film. Alternate visuals of a crow on the National Flag were ordered to be replaced. A shot featuring a pregnant woman at the beginning of the film was asked to be modified.
A foul word was permitted in one instance but muted in other scenes, and a character's tattoo bearing a foul word was covered using CGI. The phrase 'denotified tribe' was directed to be deleted.
Violent content drew particular scrutiny. The duration of stabbing visuals was reduced, and ten other violent scenes featuring torture and bloodshed were removed. At three points, dialogue referring to armed struggle against the country was modified or muted. References to a real-life assassination and a historical event were muted, as was a mention of a real-life cigarette brand.
Following these changes, the film was passed by the CBFC on September 21. The censor certificate lists the runtime as 173.04 minutes, or approximately 2 hours and 53 minutes.
Release plans
Produced by SLV Cinemas, The Paradise is set to release in eight languages: Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, English, Spanish, Bengali, Kannada and Malayalam. Nani has previously spoken about his enthusiasm for collaborating with Odela again and his anticipation for the film's release.
