The Vvaan makers secure sync rights to 'Aigiri Nandini' after Sargam Vaish's copyright claim
Balaji Motion Pictures has acquired sync rights to Sargam Vaish's recording of 'Aigiri Nandini' after he alleged it was used in The Vvaan trailer without permission.
The producers of The Vvaan: Force Of The Forrest have obtained the sync rights to a recording of 'Aigiri Nandini' following a copyright complaint from musician Sargam Vaish, who said his master recording was used in the film's trailer without his consent.
Vaish raised the matter publicly on September 20 through Instagram, stating that a version of 'Aigiri Nandini' he had created had appeared in the trailer of the Sidharth Malhotra-starrer without an NOC or permission. He said the recording was originally made for a Ram Gopal Varma film and that he holds the master rights to it.
Within a day of his post, the legal team of Balaji Motion Pictures met with Vaish. According to the musician, executives and lawyers from Ektaa R Kapoor's production house met him on the evening of September 21 and subsequently acquired the sync rights for the recording.
Vaish described the meeting as cooperative, saying the team was kind and apologetic even though they were not responsible for the leak. He added that he was grateful the matter was resolved smoothly.
The musician also said he was surprised when he first heard his version of the track in the trailer. While the sync rights have now been secured, the source of the leak remains unknown. Vaish said he and the parties involved are still trying to trace how his recording reached the film's team.
Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and backed by Balaji Motion Pictures, The Vvaan: Force Of The Forrest stars Sidharth Malhotra in the lead and is scheduled to release on September 25.
