The Vvaan opens at Rs 8.12 crore, outpaces Sidharth Malhotra's recent releases
The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest collected Rs 8.12 crore nett on its opening day, beating the first-day figures of Sidharth Malhotra's last three theatrical releases.
Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia's fantasy thriller The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest has opened in cinemas with a first-day collection of Rs 8.12 crore nett across India.
The film, which released on Friday, September 25, recorded a decent start at the box office even as reviews came in mixed. Its opening day was further complicated by a theatrical clash with the re-release of Avengers: Endgame, which has reportedly drawn audiences to cinemas.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh pegged the opening day figure at Rs 8.12 crore nett. He noted that the film had pulled off a better-than-expected opening, performing strongly in mass pockets, the heartland and single screens. The numbers carry added weight, he observed, given the competition from the Avengers: Endgame encore.
The opening day tally places The Vvaan ahead of Malhotra's three previous theatrical outings. Param Sundari had collected Rs 7.37 crore on its first day, while Yodha opened with Rs 4.25 crore. Thank God, which arrived on a Tuesday during Diwali, had earned Rs 8.10 crore on day one.
With that start behind it, attention now turns to how the film performs over its opening weekend.
The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest brings together TVF's Arunabh Kumar, director Deepak Mishra and Ektaa Kapoor, blending folklore, fantasy, adventure, mystery and humour. The film is presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, in association with TVF and 11.11 Production. It is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Arunabh Kumar and Niraj Kothari, with Manu Anand serving as Director of Photography and Visual Director.
