Eight Tamil Nadu Students Killed in Thrissur Car-Lorry Collision

Eight people, believed to be students from Tamil Nadu, were killed in a road accident in Kerala's Thrissur district late Friday night. The collision occurred around 11:40 pm when the car they were travelling in rammed into a lorry parked on the highway at Panambikkunnu in Kaipamangalam.

Police said the vehicle, registered in Tamil Nadu, was heading towards Kodungallur from Guruvayur when the crash took place. The impact was so severe that the car was left badly mangled, requiring rescue teams to cut open the wreckage to recover the bodies.

Despite the swift response from locals, fire and rescue personnel, and police, all eight occupants died on the spot. Their bodies were subsequently taken to the mortuary of Thrissur Medical College.

Reports indicate the incident occurred on an under-construction stretch of NH-66. The deceased are suspected to include seven engineering students from PSNA College in Dindigul, along with the car driver. Authorities are conducting further investigations into the circumstances of the accident.
