Kerala: Family of Three Killed as Car Hits Bike Stopped for Phone Call
A family of three, including a child, died in Thrissur when a speeding car hit their motorcycle as they stopped to answer a call.
A tragic accident in Kerala's Thrissur district claimed the lives of three members of a family late Saturday night. The victims were identified as Muneer, 35, his wife Safna, 25, and their three-year-old son, Yamil Aibak, residents of Edakkazhiyur in Chavakkad.
The incident took place on the Guruvayur-Kunnamkulam road just before midnight. According to police, the family was returning home from a wedding ceremony when they halted their motorcycle on the roadside to attend to a phone call. At that moment, a speeding car reportedly lost control and crashed into their two-wheeler.
The force of the impact threw all three victims approximately 50 metres away, leaving them with severe injuries. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical staff declared them dead upon arrival.
Authorities suspect the car driver was returning from a bar in Kunnamkulam and fled the scene immediately after the collision. Police have detained two other occupants of the vehicle and are questioning them as part of the investigation. Efforts are underway to trace the absconding driver.
The incident comes just a day after eight engineering students from Tamil Nadu were killed in a separate crash on National Highway 66 in Thrissur, when their car collided with a parked truck.
