Three Thrissur schoolgirls found safe at Alappuzha railway station after brief search
Three girls who went missing from a Thrissur school during lunch break were traced to the Alappuzha railway station and taken to safety.
Three schoolgirls who went missing from Thrissur on Tuesday were found safe within hours at the Alappuzha railway station, following a coordinated search by the police and railway authorities.
The girls, students of Classes VIII, IX and X at Model Girls Higher Secondary School, Thrissur, were staying at a shelter home in the city. They are reported to have left the school campus around 12.30 p.m. during the lunch break.
After the school authorities alerted the police, investigators scanned CCTV footage from the surrounding area and the railway station. The footage showed the girls boarding the Ernad Express, which was headed to Thiruvananthapuram.
Officers continued to track the train's movement as it crossed Ernakulam, and alerted their counterparts in Alappuzha along with the railway authorities. When the train pulled into the Alappuzha railway station, the three girls were located and taken to safety.
A case has been registered in connection with the incident, and further investigation is under way.
