Tirumala Brahmotsavam Day Six: Kodandarama Ride, Cultural Troupes Steal the Show
Day six of Tirumala Brahmotsavams featured Lord Malayappa Swamy as Kodandarama on Hanumantha Vahanam, a golden chariot procession and cultural performances by 681 artistes.
The sixth day of the annual Brahmotsavams at Tirumala brought devotion, music and traditional art forms together on Sunday morning as the processional deity, Lord Malayappa Swamy, appeared in the divine form of Kodandarama on the Hanumantha Vahanam.
Elephants led the procession through the four Mada streets, where devotees sang bhajans and performed kolatam. The recitations of the Jeeyangars and the strains of traditional Mangala Vadyams added to the religious atmosphere, while crowds lining the streets offered camphor haratis as the deity passed.
The Hanumantha Vahana procession also became a showcase of India's cultural diversity, with 25 traditional art troupes from 10 states and Singapore presenting a blend of dance, music and instrumental performances. A total of 681 artistes took part in the cultural presentations, bringing regional traditions to the sacred streets of Tirumala.
In the evening, the dazzling golden chariot procession drew large crowds as Lord Malayappa Swamy, flanked by his consorts Sri Devi and Bhu Devi, was taken around the Mada streets. Devotees greeted the deity with fervent chants and offerings.
The day's festivities concluded with the night procession of the Gaja Vahana. TTD Executive Officer Muddada Ravichandra, Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, SVBC Chairman Sridhar Varma and other officials were present.
