Three arrested in Tirupattur after parking dispute turns fatal for senior citizen
Three residents of Ambur were arrested after a parking dispute in Gangapuram village led to the death of a 60-year-old man who tried to intervene.
Three people have been arrested in connection with the death of a 60-year-old man in Gangapuram village, Tirupattur district, following a dispute over the parking of a two-wheeler. The arrested individuals were identified as K. Sasikumar, 27, T. Bharath, 27, and S. Nirmala, 47, all residents of Ambur town.
According to the police, the sequence of events began when J. Sriram, 23, a neighbour, was waiting outside his house for a friend. Sasikumar arrived and parked his two-wheeler near Sriram's residence, prompting an objection from Sriram. The disagreement quickly escalated into a verbal argument.
Sasikumar was soon joined by his relatives, Bharath and Nirmala. As the confrontation grew, R. Devaraj, 60, Sriram's grandfather, attempted to pacify the two groups. Instead, he was allegedly attacked by the trio, with Sasikumar said to have led the assault.
Family members rushed Devaraj to the Government Taluk Hospital in Ambur town, where doctors declared him brought dead. The Ambur Town police registered a case and subsequently arrested the three suspects. They have been lodged at the Central Prison in Vellore.
A probe into the incident is under way.
