Tom Cruise Backs Paramount's 30-Movie Plan Amid Merger

Tom Cruise has voiced strong support for Paramount's ambitious plan to release 30 movies annually, a strategy championed by CEO David Ellison as the studio navigates a proposed $111 billion merger with Warner Bros Discovery.

In a recent interview, the 'Mission: Impossible' star called the initiative 'awesome,' emphasizing the personal connection he feels to the studio community. 'It's a community to me. It's not an industry. The people in these studios are not just people in the studios. They're my family,' Cruise said.

The endorsement arrives as the merger faces opposition from a coalition of state attorneys general in an antitrust case. Additionally, Paramount is entangled in a dispute over a $1.88 billion bond, with a leaked threat suggesting the company might relocate from Los Angeles to a red state if a settlement isn't reached by October 1. A federal judge has scheduled the trial for March 2.

Cruise also stressed the need for industry-wide collaboration to achieve the ambitious output. 'I know we're going to get those 30 movies,' he said, adding, 'I want us all to come together as a community to help make those 30 movies. It's not just going to be, you know, Paramount doing it. Everyone's going to need all the help of every artist to be able to do it.'

The actor is currently promoting his upcoming film 'Digger,' set for a worldwide theatrical release on October 2, and his recently announced 'Days of Thunder' sequel co-starring Anne Hathaway.
