Tommy Hilfiger returns to New York Fashion Week with youthful collection at Plaza Hotel

Tommy Hilfiger returned to New York Fashion Week with a spring/summer 2027 collection at the Plaza Hotel, featuring oversized polos and bucket hats aimed at Gen Z.

American designer Tommy Hilfiger made his return to New York Fashion Week on Thursday, presenting his spring/summer 2027 collection in the lobby of Manhattan's Plaza Hotel. The venue held personal significance: Hilfiger and his wife lived in a penthouse there for more than a decade.

Guests seated in plush green armchairs watched model Gigi Hadid open the show in loose red trousers, a tan suit jacket and a navy bucket hat. The collection carried Hilfiger's signature red and navy palette, punctuated by bright yellow pants and a flowing silk dress, alongside oversized polo shirts and plaid bucket hats.

"Here we are with a new look — but still Tommy Hilfiger," the designer said before the show. "We wanted to show the youth that we were able to take our classics and rework them and reintroduce them."

Hilfiger, 75, launched his namesake brand in 1985. The label, owned by PVH Corp, has embraced an aesthetic it calls "Prep Made Current," drawing on classic American looks. The designer said the latest collection aims to appeal to Gen Z.

The front row included model Kate Moss, singers Camila Cabello and Jisoo, New York Knicks players Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart, and actor Patrick Schwarzenegger. Violinists performed hip-hop renditions, including Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind," before a live set by singer Slayyyter.

New York Fashion Week runs through September 15 with about 70 runway shows and presentations. Hilfiger's show followed those by Ralph Lauren, Coach and Diane von Furstenberg.
