Minister's surprise check at Majestic bus stations: doctor missing at Namma Clinic

Transport Minister Byrathi Suresh conducted an unannounced inspection of the KSRTC and BMTC bus terminals at Majestic on Monday, August 31. During the visit, he found that the Namma Clinic operating within the BMTC station had no doctor on duty, a lapse that drew his immediate attention.

Suresh directed the BMTC managing director to coordinate with the Health Department Commissioner to ensure a doctor is posted at the clinic without delay. He also instructed officials to equip facilities with first-aid provisions so that commuters can receive prompt medical assistance in emergencies.

The minister reviewed passenger amenities, cleanliness, and the overall upkeep of the terminals. He also visited shops within the premises to check hygiene standards and instructed shopkeepers to adhere to prescribed pricing for products. At the luggage counter, he interacted with passengers to confirm whether they were being charged extra; they reported no additional charges.

Suresh later visited the student bus pass counter, where he personally sat at a computer terminal to engage with students and understand their concerns. He directed officials to ensure the distribution of free student bus passes proceeds smoothly, without delays or procedural lapses.

Despite the shortcomings, the minister appreciated the BMTC and KSRTC staff for the general cleanliness and maintenance of the bus terminal.
