Trump Approval Stuck at 33% as Democrats Show Stronger Midterm Enthusiasm

President Donald Trump's approval rating remains pinned at the lowest point of his political career, according to a four-day national poll concluded on Monday. Just 33% of Americans approve of his performance in office, marking the third consecutive survey with that figure.
The political landscape ahead of the November 3 midterm elections shows a notable enthusiasm gap. Among self-identified Democrats, 46% say they are "very enthusiastic" about voting, compared to 31% of Republicans. Independents, a crucial voting bloc, favor Democrats by a 36% to 22% margin in congressional vote preference.
Trump's standing has been weighed down by persistent economic discontent. A substantial 71% of Americans, including four in ten Republicans, disapprove of his handling of the cost of living. For the past month, registered voters have said the Democratic Party holds better ideas for the economy, a first in roughly a decade.
The ongoing war with Iran has also taken a toll. Gasoline prices have surged since the U.S. began bombing Iran in February, and only 36% of Americans approve of the conflict. The war has disrupted a major global oil transit point, and recent days have seen renewed missile exchanges between the two sides.
Trump's current approval rating is lower than the 35% low point reached by his predecessor, Joe Biden, in October 2024. The poll surveyed 1,167 U.S. adults and carries a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
