US President Donald Trump has said Britain is "on the edge of disaster," citing concerns over immigration, high energy costs, and net zero policies. His remarks came during an interview with GB News on Thursday.

Trump expressed continued admiration for King Charles and affection for the country, but was sharply critical of the government led by Prime Minister Andy Burnham. "Your country's in trouble. You're on the edge of disaster," he said, pointing to what he described as a "tremendous immigration problem" and an energy crisis where prices are "three, four times higher than they should be."

The President, who has previously dismissed climate change as a hoax, reiterated his criticism of Britain's move away from fossil fuels. He has repeatedly urged successive UK leaders to exploit North Sea oil and gas reserves. Burnham is currently weighing whether to approve two major North Sea developments, balancing a promise of a pragmatic energy transition with his government's commitment to clean electricity sources.

On immigration, Trump warned that the country's demographic character is changing. "If you don't stop people pouring into your country from all over the world, you're not going to have a country left," he said.

Immigration remains a top concern for many British voters, particularly regarding illegal crossings via small boats from continental Europe. This issue has boosted the popularity of Nigel Farage's Reform party. The Burnham government has reiterated pledges to halt these crossings, noting earlier this week that numbers have fallen sharply due to efforts targeting launches and the criminal gangs involved.
