Trump Unveils America.gov, an AI Portal for Federal Services

President Donald Trump on Tuesday introduced America.gov, a new artificial intelligence tool the administration is presenting as a single gateway to federal information and services that are currently spread across a maze of agency websites.

Speaking at a launch event in Washington, Trump described the platform as a landmark undertaking. "With America.gov, the federal government no longer stands in your way, and it stands only at your service," he said, adding that his team was "simplifying it" and "glamorizing it."

He framed the site as more than a website, calling it "a restoration of America's founding promise" and a reinvention of government for the current century. The president said citizens would no longer have to work through tens of thousands of government sites and more than 10,000 forms to complete basic tasks.

"You'll now have one front door for every single question," Trump said, describing the platform as a digital home built around users' time and lives. He said it could save Americans hours, and potentially hundreds of hours a year, depending on their needs.

Citing the roughly 10 billion hours Americans spend annually on government paperwork, Trump said his administration was giving that time back and wanted the United States to offer "the ultimate citizen experience" of any country.

After his remarks, Trump signed an executive order related to the initiative, holding it up for those gathered.

The site does not disclose which AI platform powers its answers. When asked to explain its systems, the chatbot responded that it "does not publish the name of a specific AI model" and instead "uses AI to search official government sources and explain them with citations."

Some of those sourced answers may prove awkward for the president. Asked about the 2020 election, which Trump continues to claim he won over Democrat Joe Biden, the platform states that official sources found no widespread fraud. It also says Trump cannot run for president in 2028 because of the 22nd Amendment, despite his repeated suggestions that he might seek a third term.

The tool identifies the Pentagon as the headquarters of the Department of Defense, countering Trump's push to rename the agency the Department of War. Later, however, America.gov said it could not answer "political questions."
