Trump traded SpaceX shares in July, new financial disclosure shows
Trump bought up to $50,000 in SpaceX shares on July 10 and sold up to $15,000 on July 17, per a disclosure signed September 8.
US President Donald Trump bought and sold shares in Elon Musk's SpaceX during July, according to a public financial disclosure form made available by the Office of Government Ethics.
The filing, signed on September 8 and posted online on Tuesday, shows Trump acquired SpaceX stock worth between $15,001 and $50,000 on July 10. A week later, on July 17, he sold shares valued at between $1,001 and $15,000.
The two SpaceX transactions were part of a much larger set of trades. The disclosure lists more than 1,000 transactions carried out by the president during July.
Because federal officials report the value of their assets in ranges rather than exact figures, the precise size of Trump's stake could not be determined.
The trades create another financial connection between the president and SpaceX, a company founded by his former adviser. SpaceX operates as a US military contractor and regularly seeks approvals from federal agencies, even as the administration makes decisions that can affect the company's prospects.
SpaceX priced the largest-ever US initial public offering on June 12, valuing the space, satellite and artificial intelligence provider at $1.77 trillion. Trump had previously purchased shares in the company in June.
A spokesperson for the president did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
