Trump Tells UN He Will Rename Artificial Intelligence 'Super Intelligence'
President Donald Trump told the UN General Assembly he would officially rename artificial intelligence as 'super intelligence', saying the current name makes the technology sound fake.
US President Donald Trump used his address to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday to call for a change in how artificial intelligence is described, saying he would "officially" rename the technology "super intelligence."
Speaking to world leaders at the United Nations, Trump argued that the word "artificial" gives the impression that the technology is not genuine. "The use of the word artificial makes intelligence fake, it makes it sound fake and it is not fake. It's actually amazing," he said.
The president said that from that point forward, US government documents "will be changed to use the much more accurate term super as opposed to artificial. So it's super intelligence."
It was not immediately clear whether a formal order had been issued to give effect to the change. Were the renaming to be applied across the government, it would likely require adjusting the name of the "AI Force" that Trump announced over the weekend, which would become the "SI Force."
The remarks were delivered during the president's address to the annual gathering of the General Assembly.
