Tupac Shakur Killing: Jury Convicts Duane 'Keffe D' Davis

A Las Vegas jury has convicted Duane "Keffe D" Davis of orchestrating the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur, delivering the first verdict in a case that has haunted hip-hop for nearly three decades.

The 63-year-old Davis was found guilty on a single count of murder with a deadly weapon. Jurors reached their decision after less than three hours of deliberation, the court announced on Monday. Davis could now face life in prison.

Darryl Harper, a former music producer for Shakur who attended much of the trial, said he was relieved the case had reached a conclusion. "I still miss him," Harper said. "I'm glad we got a verdict. His spirit can fly now, it's free."

Harper also reflected on the evidence presented during the trial, suggesting that Davis's own public statements may have contributed to the outcome. "I feel like 'Keffe D' was his own worst enemy," he said. "I think he did it to himself, in a way I'm kind of glad he did it to himself because if he's responsible for it, somebody just didn't get away with killing my friend."

Jessica Martin, a fan who traveled from California and attended every day of the trial since opening statements, was seated in the courtroom behind Davis when the verdict was read. "I feel like I'm even closer to his spirit now," Martin said. "I'm very happy for the outcome and for his family most of all."
