Tupac Shakur Killing: Jury Convicts Duane Davis After Three-Hour Deliberation

A Nevada jury has convicted Duane "Keffe D" Davis of orchestrating the 1996 murder of rap icon Tupac Shakur. The verdict, delivered on Monday, came after less than three hours of deliberation, a timeline Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson described as "swift justice."

Davis, 63, was found guilty of a single count of murder with a deadly weapon and could receive a life sentence. He remains in custody without bail while awaiting sentencing, scheduled for October 13, 2026. Davis has indicated he plans to appeal the conviction after sentencing.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Wolfson praised the jury's quick decision, saying it reflected the strength of the case. "It sends a message that it wasn't a difficult decision to reach justice in this case," he said.

Wolfson also addressed the decades-long gap between the crime and the charges, which were filed in 2023. He explained that prosecutors have an ethical obligation to bring charges only when they believe they can prove a case beyond a reasonable doubt, and that "30 years later, it's still not too late."

Wolfson read a statement from Shakur's siblings, Mo Prim and Set Shakur, expressing gratitude to fans and supporters. "While this verdict is decades in the making, this is not the end of the story. Tupac's legacy and impact on the world lives on," the statement said.
