TVK to formalise alliance at September 9 meet of post-poll partners
Tamil Nadu's ruling TVK will hold a second meeting of post-poll allies on September 9 to formalise its alliance, with CM Vijay meeting partner leaders.
The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which heads the ruling coalition in Tamil Nadu, is set to formalise its alliance at a meeting of post-poll partners scheduled for September 9 at the party headquarters in Panaiyur, on the outskirts of Chennai.
Party president and Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will hold discussions with leaders of the Congress, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), and the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) on giving the existing arrangement a formal shape.
In the run-up to the meeting, the TVK has extended formal invitations to the Left parties and to MDMK general secretary Vaiko.
On Saturday, senior TVK leaders, including Ministers N. Anand and Aadhav Arjuna, met Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president B. Manickam Tagore and Rajya Sabha MP Praveen Chakravarty at Satyamurthy Bhavan, the TNCC headquarters, to hand over the invitation.
The TVK delegation subsequently called on VCK president Thol. Thirumavalavan at the party office in Ashok Nagar. Arjuna said the leaders would meet IUML national president K.M. Khader Mohideen on September 8 to extend an invitation for the second meeting.
