Two J&K policemen found dead in car in Ramban's Sanasar area

Two policemen were found dead inside a car in the Sanasar area of Ramban district in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday night, in circumstances that officials said remain unclear.

The deceased were identified as Head Constable Farid Ahmed, a resident of Bhatti Ramban, and Selection Grade Constable Muhammad Yaqbool, a resident of Jatgali Ramban. Both were posted at the Ramban District Police Lines and were related to each other.

According to officials, the two men were first noticed lying unconscious in a car parked on the roadside at around 8.30 pm. They were taken to the district hospital in Ramban, where doctors declared them brought dead.

A post-mortem was carried out on Wednesday morning, and an FIR has been registered in connection with the deaths. Ramban Senior Superintendent of Police Arun Gupta visited the spot, officials said.

It is still not known how the two policemen died or how they came to be in Sanasar.

In a separate incident, a 40-year-old woman who was found hanging at her home in the R S Pura sector was cremated on Tuesday in the lawns of her matrimonial house, amid protests by her parents and other villagers. The protesters alleged that her husband and other in-laws had murdered her.

The woman was identified as Sushma Devi, a mother of two minor children. Police have registered a case and taken three people in for questioning.
