Udhayanidhi Stalin Accuses TVK Government of Cover-Up in Vandalur Schoolgirl Assault Case

Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin on Friday expressed shock over the alleged sexual assault of a government schoolgirl near Vandalur in Chengalpattu district, and accused the TVK-led government of attempting to conceal the incident by presenting it as a snakebite.

In a post on X, Mr. Udhayanidhi said the girl was abducted from the school premises in broad daylight by unidentified persons and sexually assaulted. He questioned the absence of the Singapenn Special Force and criticised the Chief Minister, who had earlier promised to act as an elder brother on matters of women's safety. He described it as a matter of shame that students were not safe even within government school premises under what he termed a "circus government" that claims no compromise on women's safety.

The Leader of the Opposition further alleged that the police were attempting to cover up the crime and divert attention by portraying it as a snakebite. He claimed this was being done because the Chief Minister was scheduled to visit Madurantakam for a bypoll campaign. Mr. Udhayanidhi also alleged that the police had seized the mobile phones of the girl's parents and threatened them not to disclose the incident publicly.

He demanded that the victim receive proper treatment and urged the State government to take stringent action against the accused. He also called on the government to ensure the safety of children across all school premises.

Warning against any attempt to suppress the incident in view of the upcoming bypoll, Mr. Udhayanidhi said the people would certainly teach a lesson to the rulers.
