The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct a re-examination for three papers of the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) June 2026 cycle. The decision follows multiple complaints about errors in the English, Commerce, and Sociology papers.
A committee constituted to review the matter found several issues, including factual and typographical mistakes, misspelt names of scholars, garbled book titles, grammatical errors, and repetition of previously administered questions.
Schedule and Timing
The re-examinations will be held on the following dates:
- English: September 9, 9 am to 12 pm
- Commerce: September 9, 3 pm to 6 pm
- Sociology: September 10, 9 am to 12 pm
Reporting Time and Entry Rules
Candidates must report to their examination centre two hours before the scheduled start of the exam to complete frisking and registration. The registration desk will close 30 minutes before the exam begins. Latecomers will not be permitted.
Essential Instructions for Candidates
Aspirants are advised to read all instructions on the UGC NET admit card carefully. They must carry a printed copy of the admit card downloaded from the NTA website, along with two passport-sized photographs and a valid photo identity proof.
Once seated, candidates should verify that the question paper displayed on their allotted computer matches their opted subject. If there is any discrepancy, they must immediately inform the invigilator.
