UK murder suspect pleads guilty to gun charges in Johannesburg court

A man sought by British authorities over the deaths of his wife and two daughters has pleaded guilty to firearm-related charges in a South African court.

Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, where he admitted to the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. He also pleaded guilty to an immigration offence, acknowledging that he entered South Africa while being a fugitive from UK law.

South African prosecutors confirmed that the guilty plea was part of a plea agreement. Tshuma was arrested in July while on the run.

The court heard that the ammunition charge relates to two 6.35mm calibre cartridges. Tshuma's plea was recorded in open court, with the magistrate reading out each count and the accused responding "guilty" to both the firearm and immigration charges.

Following the proceedings, Tshuma was led back to the court holding cells. South African authorities have indicated they will proceed with extradition proceedings to the UK once the local case is concluded.
