Ukraine's Massive Drone Barrage Kills Six in Russia
Ukraine launched hundreds of drones across Russia, killing at least six, including in the Moscow region and Rostov.
Ukraine carried out one of its most extensive aerial operations of the war on Sunday, sending hundreds of drones into Russian territory and killing at least six people, according to Russian officials.
Russia's Ministry of Defense reported that air defenses intercepted and destroyed 822 drones overnight, with around 600 of them aimed at the capital, Moscow. The scale of the attack marks a significant escalation in Kyiv's long-range strike campaign.
In the southwestern Rostov region, five people were killed as three towns came under drone assault, according to regional Governor Yury Slyusar. The region has been a frequent target due to its proximity to the front lines and its role as a logistics hub.
Separately, an 83-year-old man died when a drone struck a private home in the Moscow region, local authorities said. The attack on the capital's outskirts underscores the reach of Ukraine's drone program.
The overnight barrage is among the largest since the war began, reflecting Ukraine's continued efforts to take the fight deeper into Russian territory even as ground battles persist in the east.
