Ukraine's top diplomat calls for Europe, US to rejoin peace push

Ukraine's foreign minister says peace efforts can accelerate, urging Europe and the US to re-engage at the negotiating table.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has called for a renewed diplomatic push to end the war, stressing that Europe and the United States must be fully engaged at the negotiating table.

Speaking at a joint press conference in Kyiv on Saturday alongside German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, Sybiha said the current moment offers an opportunity to accelerate work toward peace.

"We are now at a point where work on bringing peace closer can be accelerated," he said. "Diplomacy plays a key role in this."

Sybiha underlined that Ukraine's principled position is that a real and lasting peace is only possible with Europe actively involved in the talks. He also called for greater American participation, noting that diplomatic efforts are currently on pause.

"We need to maximize their activation," Sybiha said, referring to peace negotiations. "We welcome the leadership of the American side, because without the United States, it is unrealistic to achieve progress toward a just peace."

The remarks come as Kyiv continues to press its Western allies for sustained diplomatic and military support, even as the conflict enters a phase where diplomatic channels appear stalled.
