UN: Gaza Child Deaths Average One a Day Since Ceasefire

Civilians in Gaza remain exposed to intense military operations, including air strikes, shelling, and naval fire, according to UN humanitarian agencies. The UN Children's Fund reported that at least 300 children have been killed in the territory over the past 300 days, an average of one child per day since the ceasefire announced in October 2025.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said children are living in overcrowded shelters with limited access to safe water and health services. Aid partners have been scaling up assistance, distributing hygiene kits, water containers, and detergent to displaced families last week. Child protection efforts also included providing identification cards and notebooks.

In the past month, more than 500 children with disabilities received cash assistance, assistive devices, and rehabilitation services. To address gender-based violence, a new safe space opened in North Gaza, joining 85 facilities across the strip where some 8,400 women and girls participate in activities weekly. Humanitarian groups say additional funding and safe access are needed to expand these services.

In the West Bank, OCHA reported that Israeli settlers set fire to homes in the Palestinian community of Tuba in the Masafer Yatta area of Hebron. Three families, including 14 children, were displaced, and several people were injured, including two children. A solar power system and animal fodder were destroyed.

OCHA documented over 1,380 settler-related incidents in the first seven months of the year, resulting in casualties or property damage across 250 Palestinian communities. More than 2,300 Palestinians were displaced due to settler attacks and access restrictions during that period.
