UP Sets ₹5 Lakh Crore Export Target for 2030, Says Piyush Goyal
Piyush Goyal said Uttar Pradesh aims to raise annual exports from about ₹2 lakh crore to ₹5 lakh crore by 2030, aided by FTAs and new investment.
Uttar Pradesh has set a target of lifting its annual exports from roughly ₹2 lakh crore to ₹5 lakh crore by 2030, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said at the UP International Trade Show in Greater Noida.
Goyal said the opening up of global markets to India through Free Trade Agreements would give the state's entrepreneurs wider access to international buyers. Expanding exports, drawing in foreign investment and securing greater market access, he added, would feed into Uttar Pradesh's ambition of becoming a $1 trillion economy.
The Minister said fresh investment is expected to arrive in India from around the world, and described Uttar Pradesh as a preferred investment destination, crediting its industrial policies and schemes. Large corporations and global investors are entering a range of sectors, generating new employment, he said.
He pointed to modern technology, international firms and the skills of the state's youth as forces behind its development, and said events of this scale allow local products, cuisines and services to reach overseas markets directly.
The trade show features six partner countries, hundreds of delegates and exhibitors, and buyer-seller meetings, Goyal noted.
On infrastructure, he cited expressways, modern airports and industrial parks, and said the state is building a presence in defence, semiconductors, electronics and other high-technology areas. He referred to the expansion of a large robotics manufacturing facility in Greater Noida as an example of this industrial and technological growth.
Goyal identified exports, international investment, tourism and global recognition for state brands as the next frontier for Uttar Pradesh's development. He called for coordination between the central and state governments and the participation of citizens, young people and the trade and industrial community in sustaining the state's economic and export growth.
