UP Man Slits Wife's Throat, Surrenders at Bhawanpur Police Station

A man allegedly killed his wife by slitting her throat before surrendering at a police station in Uttar Pradesh, officials said on Monday.

Manish, a resident of Abdulapur, walked into the Bhawanpur police station and told officers that he had slit the throat of his wife, Kavita, 25. Police then rushed to the spot and recovered the body, Circle Officer (Sadar Dehat) Sudhir Singh said.

The accused has been arrested, and a case has been registered in connection with the killing. A forensic team gathered evidence from the scene, and the body was sent for post-mortem. Officers said the motive behind the killing was not immediately known.

In a separate incident, a man allegedly strangled his wife with a dupatta in Fatehullapur village over a property dispute, police said.

Circle Officer (Kotwali) Sangram Singh said information was received in the afternoon that Chand Khan had strangled his wife, Shahista, 28. The woman's family alleged that Chand frequently assaulted and harassed her over demands for money.

Shahista's brother, Sonu, told police that she had married Chand about six years ago and that the couple have four children. According to his complaint, Chand acquired property in the village some time ago and Shahista had been asking him to transfer it in their children's names. A dispute over the matter had been going on for about three months, police said.

The body in that case has also been sent for post-mortem, and the accused has been arrested.
