UPESSC Releases Assistant Professor 2026 Notification: 1,936 Vacancies, Exam in November
UPESSC announces 1,936 assistant professor vacancies; online applications open until October 7, 2026. Exam on November 19-20.
The Uttar Pradesh Education Services Selection Commission (UPESSC) has officially announced the recruitment drive for Assistant Professor positions in the state's non-government aided co-education and women's colleges. The notification, released on September 8, 2026, is now available on the commission's official website, upessc.up.gov.in, where the application window has also been activated.
A total of 1,936 vacancies are up for grabs. Before applying, candidates must complete the mandatory One Time Registration (OTR) process on the portal, a prerequisite introduced by the commission for all applicants.
Eligibility and Age Criteria
Applicants must hold a Master's degree in a relevant subject with at least 55% marks. Additionally, they must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET), State Level Eligibility Test (SLET), or State Eligibility Test (SET), or possess a PhD degree. The age limit for candidates is set between 21 and 62 years as of July 1, 2026.
Exam Pattern and Schedule
The written examination will feature 120 multiple-choice questions carrying a total of 360 marks. Each correct answer will earn three marks, while one mark will be deducted for every incorrect response. The test duration is two hours.
Key dates for the recruitment process are as follows: the last date to submit applications and pay the fee is October 7, 2026, with the correction window closing on October 11, 2026. The examination is scheduled to be conducted on November 19 and 20, 2026.
Application Fee
The application fee varies by category: General, OBC, EWS, and UR candidates must pay Rs 2,000; SC and ST applicants are required to pay Rs 1,500; and PwD candidates have a fee of Rs 1,000. All payments must be made online.
