Telangana Minister Sets June 2027 Deadline for Uppal–Narapally Elevated Corridor

The long-delayed Uppal–Narapally elevated corridor will be completed and opened to the public by June next year, Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy told the Legislative Council on Thursday.

Replying to questions in the House, the Minister acknowledged that the project, launched in 2017–18, had been held up by serious operational difficulties. He said the Congress government had since stepped in to remove the bottlenecks and speed up construction.

Detailing the reasons for the delay, Mr. Venkat Reddy said the original contractor had moved the National Company Law Tribunal. A second agency engaged midway to carry out the work also failed to deliver, he added. With the intervention of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the State government has coordinated with Gayatri Projects to restart and fast-track the construction, the Minister said.

Describing the structure as more than an ordinary flyover, he called it a major elevated corridor and a vital lifeline. He pointed to its role in linking Hyderabad with Warangal, AIIMS Bibinagar, Bhongir and Jangaon.

According to the Minister, bituminous road renewals and surface repairs beneath the flyover have been finished, and construction is now under way around the clock. A high-level review was held three days ago with the Chief Engineer and officials of the National Highways Regional Office to streamline logistics and ensure timely payments to the contractor.

Mr. Venkat Reddy reiterated the government's commitment to the revised timeline, stating that the corridor would meet its June target despite earlier slippages that had pushed back the initial Dasara deadline.
