UPSC Opens Applications for Combined Geo-Scientist 2027: 127 Posts, Key Dates Inside
UPSC has opened applications for the Combined Geo-Scientist 2027 exam, offering 127 vacancies across GSI and CGWB. Apply by September 22.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially released the notification for the Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2027. The application window opened on September 3, 2026, and will remain active until September 22, 2026. Interested candidates can register through the official UPSC website, upsc.gov.in.
The recruitment drive aims to fill 127 tentative vacancies for positions under the Geological Survey of India (GSI) and the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB). The selection process will be conducted in three stages: a Preliminary examination, a Main examination, and a Personality Test/Interview.
According to the schedule, the Preliminary examination is slated for January 10, 2027. Candidates who clear this stage will proceed to the Main examination, which is scheduled for June 19 and 20, 2027.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet specific requirements regarding age, nationality, and education. The age limit stipulates that a candidate must be between 21 and 32 years of age as of January 1, 2027. This means candidates must have been born between January 2, 1995, and January 1, 2006.
Regarding nationality, candidates must be either a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962.
For educational qualifications, a Master's degree in a relevant science discipline from a recognized university is the minimum requirement.
Application Fee
The application fee is set at Rs. 200 for candidates belonging to the General, OBC, and EWS categories. Female candidates, as well as those from SC, ST, and PwBD categories, are exempt from paying the fee.
