UP job aspirants protest outside Deputy CM's residence over stalled recruitment

Hundreds of candidates in Lucknow staged a protest outside the official residence of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Wednesday, demanding an end to the prolonged delay in recruitment for 3,284 junior assistant typist posts. The aspirants, carrying placards, alleged that the state government has been neglecting their grievances and sitting on the recruitment process conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC).

Responding to the demonstration, Mr. Pathak came out to meet the protesters and assured them of swift action. He said he had spoken with the UPSSSC Chairman and directed that the issues be resolved immediately. "Our government stands firmly with students and the youth," he said, adding that he had instructed the commission to ensure the typing examination is held promptly in line with the aspirants' demands.

Despite the Deputy Chief Minister's intervention, the protesters remained sceptical, pointing to a history of unfulfilled promises. Abhinav Mishra, one of the aspirants, said the commission has repeatedly given false assurances. "The typing test has not taken place yet. Now, they are suggesting holding it in December. We want the test to be held as soon as possible," he said, demanding an official notice confirming the exam will be conducted in October.

The protest drew political support from the Congress, with national secretary Shahnawaz Alam accusing the state government of failing the youth. "The government made tall promises about employment generation, but it has completely failed," he said, adding that the party would support the aspirants' cause in every way possible.
