US to unveil China trade negotiation details on Monday, Greer says

The United States will disclose the results of its recent trade negotiations with China on Monday, US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said, following a White House meeting between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Greer described the current arrangement as a "managed trade situation" and said progress had been made. He told CNBC that Washington would release "a lot more details about what we've accomplished over the past few weeks in negotiating with the Chinese."

The two sides have agreed to exempt certain key goods from trade disputes, Greer said. Under the arrangement, the US would send agricultural products and medical devices to China, while receiving consumer goods and other non-sensitive items in return.

"We've actually reached agreement with the Chinese on a number of these things in areas where, you know if we have trade disputes in the future or if there are tariff measures in the future, we just leave those things to the side," he said.

The meeting between Trump and Xi at the White House was the second this year between the leaders of the world's two largest economies.

Separately, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent held talks with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng this week. The two agreed to extend until January 10 an arrangement that paused a trade war in which mutual tariffs had exceeded 100%.
