US Envoys Witkoff and Kushner to Visit Kyiv on Sunday for Peace Talks
US representatives Witkoff and Kushner will visit Moscow and Kyiv for talks on ending the war, Zelenskyy announced Friday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Friday that senior US representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are expected to visit Moscow and arrive in Kyiv on Sunday for negotiations aimed at ending the ongoing conflict.
Speaking in a video address, Zelenskyy said Ukraine is actively preparing for the visit. He confirmed that Kyiv will ensure the normal functioning of Russian airspace to allow the American negotiators to travel safely, mirroring arrangements made during previous diplomatic missions.
"From our side, there will be no airstrikes," Zelenskyy stated, adding that Russia must reciprocate by observing a period of calm for the duration of the talks. He expressed hope that the discussions would be constructive and substantive, noting, "We’ll see what proposals Steve and Jared have, and what Moscow has to say about them."
In a related development, Zelenskyy revealed that he has approved response proposals from Ukraine's Security Service and Armed Forces following continued Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities. He reported that a strike on Kyiv on Friday injured twelve people, with additional attacks recorded in the Kharkiv, Sumy, Kherson, and Odesa regions. The President vowed that Ukrainian forces would respond to these attacks at a chosen moment.
