Ust-Luga Port Back to Normal After Ukrainian Drone Strike, Says Governor
Russian officials say the port of Ust-Luga has recovered from a Ukrainian drone attack, with no casualties reported.
Russian authorities have declared the situation at the Baltic Sea port of Ust-Luga under control, a day after a Ukrainian drone attack sparked a fire at the major oil export hub. Regional Governor Alexander Drozdenko confirmed on Friday that all consequences of the attack had been resolved and that there were no casualties.
The port, a key node for Russian energy exports, was targeted as part of Ukraine's ongoing campaign to strike infrastructure deep inside Russian territory. Kyiv has repeatedly hit refineries, fuel depots, and commercial facilities to increase the economic pressure on Moscow.
Drozdenko also noted that more than 50 drones were intercepted overnight across the Leningrad region surrounding St. Petersburg. In a separate incident, the governor of the Tver region, northwest of Moscow, reported that debris from a downed drone damaged a warehouse belonging to online retailer Wildberries. No injuries were reported in that attack either.
Meanwhile, in the wider Baltic region, Latvia's armed forces said fighter jets intercepted a drone that had entered its airspace, and Finland imposed temporary restrictions on movement in parts of the Baltic Sea as a precaution against further drone activity.
