Six arrested, juvenile held in Vattepally murder over black magic suspicion
Six people and a juvenile were held for the August 30 murder of a real estate businessman in Vattepally, allegedly driven by a belief in black magic.
Falaknuma police have arrested six persons and apprehended a juvenile in connection with the murder of a 53-year-old real estate businessman at Vattepally on August 30. Investigators attribute the killing to a suspicion of black magic held by one of the accused.
The victim, Mohd. Mehboob Ali, a resident of Fatima Nagar, was attacked with knives and daggers near Almas Hotel at around 9:30 p.m. He sustained multiple injuries and was taken to Princess Esra Hospital, where he died during treatment.
Police identified the prime suspect as Mirza Mohsin Baig, who allegedly believed that Mehboob Ali had performed black magic on his mother, Tahera Begum, causing her prolonged illness. Baig also suspected the victim of using black magic in connection with the death of his maternal uncle, Mohammed Khaleel.
According to the investigation, Baig shared his suspicions with his cousin, Mohammed Imran Ahemad, who allegedly advised him to eliminate Mehboob Ali and promised assistance in securing bail for those involved. The two, along with Mohd. Naseer, Shaik Akram, Mohd. Abrar Ali, Mohammed Sami alias Shutter, and the juvenile, then planned the murder.
On the night of the incident, the group allegedly assembled at Ayaan Darbar Hotel after learning that Mehboob Ali was near Almas Hotel. They procured six knives and daggers and travelled to the location on two two-wheelers. The accused intercepted the victim and attacked him, inflicting injuries to his head, chest, hands, and other parts of his body.
Police seized the two two-wheelers, the six weapons, and three mobile phones allegedly used in the offence. All six accused and the juvenile were apprehended on September 3 and produced before a court for judicial custody.
