VCK chief takes aim at CM Vijay's 'undignified' Assembly conduct
VCK chief Thol. Thirumavalavan criticises CM Vijay's body language in the Assembly, saying it mocked MK Stalin and was undignified.
Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) founder and Chidambaram MP Thol. Thirumavalavan has criticised Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay's conduct during his recent reply to the Demand for Grants in the State Assembly. In a statement issued on Wednesday, Thirumavalavan said the Chief Minister's body language did not reflect a dignified approach and appeared to mock DMK president M.K. Stalin's appearance.
Thirumavalavan asserted that belittling or hurting a person's self-respect is never civilised, regardless of the context. He drew a distinction between legitimate political criticism and personal attacks that wound an individual's dignity. He stressed that such an approach is unacceptable even when directed at an ordinary person lacking education, economic means, or authority.
The VCK leader further noted that the Chief Minister must exercise greater care given the immense dignity and responsibility attached to his office.
Thirumavalavan also addressed the DMK's request to expunge portions of the Chief Minister's speech from Assembly records. He claimed that during the subsequent discussion, the Law Minister made a statement containing a historical error regarding the MISA period. Thirumavalavan described the state terror of that era as well-known across the country and called the erroneous statement about the DMK president condemnable. He urged the Law Minister to publicly withdraw the statement.
