Venice Gears Up for 83rd Film Festival as Stars Prepare to Descend

Venice is putting the final touches on its preparations for the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, which officially kicks off on Wednesday. The event, widely regarded as one of the most prestigious in the world and the oldest of its kind, is expected to draw a host of international stars and major cinematic talent.

The festival will run until September 12, when the jury will announce this year's award winners. The opening night will feature Danny Boyle's "Ink," an adaptation of the acclaimed stage play chronicling the early years of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, played by Guy Pearce, and his acquisition of the British tabloid The Sun. The film also stars Jack O'Connell and Claire Foy.

Among the notable attendees will be George Clooney, who is set to receive a lifetime achievement award and is also attached as a producer on the film "Furies." Veteran actress Ellen Burstyn will also be honored with a lifetime achievement award at this year's festival.

The star-studded guest list is expected to include Noel and Liam Gallagher of Oasis, Rooney and Kate Mara, Robert Pattinson, Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Pamela Anderson, Sam Rockwell, John Malkovich, Louis Garrel, and Cho Yeo-jeong.

As crews laid the red carpet and adjusted camera equipment, the atmosphere around the Palazzo del Casino was already charged with anticipation. Devoted fans have begun camping by the barriers, hoping to secure a prime spot to see their favorite celebrities. One such fan, Matteo Amistà, shared that this will be his fourth consecutive festival, a tradition he says he will continue "until I die." He described the experience as demanding, requiring significant patience and endurance against the heat, noting that the early morning hours are the only time it feels comfortable. Despite the challenges, he remains committed to the experience, emphasizing the need for patience and even medication to cope with the intense sun.
