Venice Film Festival: Moretti, Oasis, and Lee Chang-dong Take Center Stage

The Venice Film Festival is set for a busy weekend, with several high-profile premieres and events scheduled across Saturday and Sunday. Italian director Nanni Moretti returns to the Lido with his romantic comedy It Will Happen Tonight, which stars Louis Garrel and Jasmine Trinca. The film premieres in competition on Saturday evening.

Later that night, the Gallagher brothers—Noel and Liam—bring rock 'n' roll to Venice with the documentary Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger, chronicling their 2025 world tour. The film's writer, Steven Knight, has described it as a story about reconciliation.

Sunday's highlights include Possible Love, the first film in eight years from acclaimed Korean auteur Lee Chang-dong. The director will join stars Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong for a press conference before the film's highly anticipated premiere in competition.

Also on Sunday, Andrea Pallaoro's The Echo Chamber—based on the final screenplay by the late Bernardo Bertolucci—will hold a press conference. Alicia Vikander, Lucmorea Marinelli, and Susan Sarandon are expected at its evening premiere.

The festival will also feature Woman Unknown, directed by May El-Toukhy, the only film in competition this year helmed by a woman. Meanwhile, Taika Waititi is set to host the amfAR gala, with a performance by Bebe Rexha and an honor for artist Marina Abramović.

Already at the festival, Robert Pattinson has been promoting his film Primetime, alongside musician Phoebe Bridgers, while Kiefer Sutherland and Luc Besson are presenting Father Joe. Fans have braved 86-degree heat to catch glimpses of the stars, and Milla Jovovich's daughter has also stepped into the spotlight on the red carpet.
