Delhi College Shut After Building Collapse, Offers Shelter and Food

Sri Venkateswara College, part of Delhi University, will remain closed on Monday following the collapse of a building in the nearby Satya Niketan area. The decision was announced through a notice from the college administration, which cited the incident's proximity to the campus and the resulting insecurity among students.

In response to the emergency, the college has opened its classrooms as temporary accommodation for both male and female students. The move is aimed at assisting those who have been displaced from their paying guest (PG) accommodations or are unable to return to their residences due to the collapse.

The college issued an urgent appeal urging affected students to come to the campus for shelter. It also stated that food would be provided to those in need. The accommodation facility is available not only for Venkateswara College students but also for all girl students from the South Campus colleges.

The administration's notice emphasized that the temporary arrangement is a precautionary measure to ensure student safety and well-being in the wake of the structural failure.
