Vice President unveils 'Gnani Artha', a sovereign AI stack built by GNANI AI

Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan on Wednesday launched 'Gnani Artha', a sovereign AI stack developed by GNANI AI, at Uprashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The stack comprises two key components: Evon 3.3, a large language model, and Plexus, a platform designed to connect AI intelligence with real-world applications and institutions.

Speaking at the launch, the Vice President said the combination of Evon 3.3 and Plexus reflects the growing strength of India's technology ecosystem. He noted that Indian engineers are now capable not only of using frontier technologies but also of building them from the ground up.

Drawing a contrast with earlier technological eras, he recalled the transition from typewriters and limited personal computer use to the current age of Artificial Intelligence. He pointed out that while there were once concerns about computers replacing jobs, the IT sector went on to create numerous employment opportunities both in India and abroad. He expressed confidence that AI would similarly open new avenues for employment and growth, taking India's economic progress to the next stage.

The Vice President credited much of the momentum behind India's technological transformation to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the Prime Minister's political will and 'India First' approach are strengthening the country's capabilities in emerging technologies. He also highlighted initiatives such as the IndiaAI Mission and Centres of Excellence for AI as key drivers of this change.

He further cited the use of AI in Parliament, noting that the Digital Sansad portal makes debates and papers accessible in multiple Indian languages. He added that AI-based simultaneous interpretation in eight languages was introduced during the recently concluded Session and would soon be extended to all Scheduled Languages.

Emphasising the need for technological self-reliance, the Vice President said India should not remain merely a consumer of technology. "We should not be consumers always; we need to create, so that others can consume," he said, underlining the importance of building indigenous capabilities.

He also stressed the need for sovereign AI capabilities to strengthen India's technological and strategic autonomy. Referring to semiconductor manufacturing, he observed that India could have begun chip production much earlier and possibly become a global leader by now, but noted the sector has gained renewed momentum under the current leadership.

The Vice President described technological capability as a key pillar of India's journey towards Viksit Bharat @ 2047. He called Gnani Artha part of the larger national effort towards self-reliance, innovation, and global leadership. He congratulated GNANI AI CEO Shri Ganesh Gopalan and Co-Founder and CTO Shri Ananth Nagaraj on the launch, expressing hope that the initiative would contribute to building a stronger and technologically empowered India.
