Bengaluru Woman Alleges ₹1.5 Lakh Cheat in CM Relief Fund Promise

A 44-year-old woman has filed a police complaint in Bengaluru, alleging that she was cheated of ₹1.5 lakh by a man who claimed he could help her obtain financial aid from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

The complainant told the Vidhana Soudha police that her mother had undergone surgery for gangrene at a private hospital in Udupi in October 2025. The treatment was unsuccessful, and her mother later passed away.

According to the complaint, the woman approached an acquaintance, identified as Manjunath, to inquire about possible financial assistance from the relief fund. Manjunath is said to have introduced her to Venkata Reddy, who claimed to be an employee at Vidhana Soudha.

Reddy allegedly assured her that he could arrange ₹9 lakh from the relief fund to cover part of the ₹12 lakh she had spent on medical treatment. He reportedly demanded ₹1.5 lakh as a commission and promised the sanction would be processed within 53 days.

Trusting his assurances, the woman paid the amount. However, despite collecting the money along with copies of medical bills and other documents, Reddy allegedly failed to deliver on his promise even after several months.

Based on her complaint, the Vidhana Soudha police have initiated action against Reddy on allegations of cheating and intimidation. An investigation is currently underway.
