Vidya Balan's Kantha look unveiled in Jailer 2 first-look video
Vidya Balan joins Jailer 2 as Kantha, with Sun Pictures releasing her first look ahead of the film's October 15 release.
The makers of Jailer 2 have unveiled the first look of Vidya Balan, who joins the cast as a character named Kantha. The reveal was shared by Sun Pictures, the film's production studio, on its Instagram handle on Sunday.
The first-look video shows the actress in a saree, smoking a cigarette and delivering a line in Tamil. "Introducing Vidya Balan as Kantha from the world of Jailer 2," the studio wrote alongside the post.
Balan is the latest addition to the sequel's ensemble. The makers had earlier introduced SJ Suryah's character, Bodhi, and on Friday shared the first-look video of Suraj Venjaramoodu, who plays Dileep, on X. In that clip, the actor is seen smoking a cigarette while projecting his character's authority.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 brings back Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, with Anirudh Ravichander returning as composer. The original Jailer, released in 2023, was among the actor's biggest hits, and expectations for the follow-up have been high.
Promotional material for the sequel has already begun rolling out, including an announcement teaser and the song 'Ala Bolelo'. The cast also includes Vijay Sethupathi in a cameo, along with Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Balan.
The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 15.
